ventilated containers are also known as coffee containers, natural ventilated containers and passive ventilated containers.
In a ventilated container, the ventilation is provided by openings in bottom and top side of rails of container. Such openings are made by protecting from rain or spray from outside to let in. he upper side, lower side and corner posts of ventilated containers have lashing rings to secure the cargo. Lashing rings, to which the cargo may be secured, are installed in the upper and lower side rails and the corner posts. The lashing ring in a 20’ ventilated container can take permissible load of 1000kgs. The permissible weight details for road and rail is mentioned on the container.
Use of Ventilated Containers
The Ventilated Container is used for cargo which needs ventilation. The commodity such as Green Coffee beans which requires ventilation on transit can be transported by Ventilated Containers, hence the name of ventilated containers are also known as coffee containers. Cocoa beans and other organic goods with high moisture contents can be moved with ventilated containers.
