D/S - Days after sight.
DAA:Discharge Always Afloat
DAD:Documents Against Discretion of Collecting Bank
DAF - See Delivered at frontier.
Dangerous cargo - Needs special handling or stowage.
Dangerous goods note: document required when shipping hazardous or potentially hazardous goods.
DAP:Delivered at Place - pricing terms indicating that the goods are at the disposal of the buyer ready for unloading at a named place of destination. But see Incoterms 2010.
DAT:Delivered at Terminal - pricing terms indicating that the goods are at the disposal of the buyer once unloaded at a named terminal at port or place of destination. But see Incoterms 2010.
Date draft - A draft that matures in a specified number of days after the date it is issued, without regard to the date of acceptance. See Draft, Sight draft, and Time draft.

ddc (also DDC) - Sometimes said to be “delivered destination charges"; referring to various miscellaneous charges in the port of destination; alternatively, said to refer to dispatch money at discharge.
DDO: Dispatch Discharging Only
DDP: delivered duty paid (named place of destination). This is an Incoterm - see the Incoterms 2000 website for more information. The seller clears the goods for export and pays for delivery to the named destination. The seller meets all the costs and risks of clearing the goods for import, though the buyer may agree to bear some of the costs. The goods are delivered when they arrive, cleared for import but not unloaded, at the named destination.
DDP:Dispatch Discharging Only
DDU: delivered duty unpaid (named place of destination). This is an Incoterm - see the Incoterms 2000 website for more information. The seller clears the goods for export and pays for delivery. The goods are delivered when they arrive at the named destination place, not cleared for import or unloaded. The buyer is responsible for clearing the goods for import and the associated costs and risks, though the seller can agree to bear some of these costs.
Deadfreight - Freight charge to be paid even when shipment was not made, owing to failure by shipper or charterer to actually ship goods in the shipping space for which a reservation was made.
Deadweight (DWT) - Total carrying capacity of a vessel.

Deck cargo - Goods shipped on the deck of a ship rather than in its holds.
Deed of Assignment: A banking arrangement between the beneficiary of a letter of credit and a third party - usually the supplier of the goods - who requires an assurance of payment. The beneficiary of the credit is the assignor: part of the proceeds of the credit are irrevocably assigned to the assignee.
Deed of protest: Document evidencing that a protest has been carried out. In a collection, a bank may be asked to do this if a bill of exchange is not paid, accepted or honored at maturity.

Defense trade controls - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls at the Dept. of State administers licenses for the export of defense articles and services including arms, ammunition, and implements of war. These items are listed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Munitions List. DTC is involved in the commodity jurisdiction (CJ) process. The CJ process is used to determine whether a particular item should be transferred to another control list (primarily, whether an item may be subject to the ITAR or considered either dual-use and subject to the Commodity Control List). Deferred air freight - Air freight offered at cheaper rates for non-urgent shipments.
Deferred payment credit - Type of letter of credit providing for payment some time after presentation of shipping documents by exporter.
del credere - As relates to international commercial agency relationships: a del credere agent is one who guarantees the ability to pay of prospective clients he has brought to the principal; in exchange, the del credere agent is usually accorded a higher percentage commission than is a regular agent.

Delivered at frontier (DAF) - Incoterm that means the seller's obligations are fulfilled when the goods have arrived at the frontier -- but before "the customs border" of the country named in the sales contract. The term is primarily intended to apply to goods by rail or road but is also used irrespective of the mode of transport. In the U.S. this term of sale is relevant only to U.S. persons selling goods to a Mexican buyer.
DELIVERED AT FRONTIER:Term referring to the sellers obligation to supply goods which conform with the contract. At his/her own risk and expense, the seller must deliver the to the buyer at the specified time and the specified frontier. The buyer is responsible for complying with import formalities and payment of duties.
Delivered at Frontier:The seller's obligations are fulfilled when the goods have arrived at the frontier-but before "the customs border" of the country named in the sales contract.
Delivered duty paid (DDP) - Incoterm® for when the seller bears all obligations, risk and costs to delivers the goods, cleared for export and import, at the named point in the country of destination.
Delivered Duty Paid:While the term "Ex Works" signifies the seller's minimum obligation, the term "Delivered Duty Paid," when followed by words naming the buyer's premises denotes the other extreme-the seller's maximum obligation and may be used irrespective of the mode of transport.
