DAP terms – Unloading of goods by Buyer or Seller at named location?
The exporter or importer responsible to unload goods at named destination place under DAP terms of Inco Terms Rules 2020 in Export Import Trade?
Under DAP terms, who is responsible to unload the cargo at named place mentioned in the contract? The seller undertakes pre carriage, main carriage and on carriage of goods except import customs clearance and import taxes if any at buyer’s country. As the name of the term says DAP – Delivered At Place, is it the responsibility of the seller to unload the goods also at final named destination? Here, ‘delivered’ does not mean the unloading of goods at named destination under Inco Terms 2020 rules. So, the responsibility of unloading goods at named destination at buyer’s place is with the Buyer.
In short, in an international trade, under DAP terms; the importer is responsible to undertake the risk and cost of unloading goods at named destination.
