USDA Hold – a common term hears nowadays under US Import Customs Clearance. What does USD hold mean in import customs clearance? What is the parameters fall under USDA hold under import clearance in US?

USDA exam is one of the holds by US government agency to check the condition of pests or other insect’s infestation. Any goods importing to US has to follow the 
specified standard of proper packing of goods especially wood packing failing which the imported goods may be confiscated or penalized.
Why pests or other insect’s infestation on imported goods?
The pests or other insects’ present s due to non treatment of woods packed or lack of fumigation etc.
How does USDA conduct holds against goods imported in US?
USDA may either conduct a Tail Gate Exam or an Intensive Exam. VACIS method of inspection is also carried out through X- ray gamma rays to conduct USDA exam under import of goods in US import clearance.

CBP may either balance import duty amount for all commodities or arrange a separate fund for all import holds and absorb such inspection expenses of private agencies who handle import exam holds.
