31st GST council Meeting, 22nd December 2018
31st GST(Goods and Service Tax) Council meeting is scheduled to be held on 22nd December 2018 in New Delhi. The meeting will be chaired by Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the agenda for the 31st meet will be to bring petrol and diesel under GST. The move to slash tax rates is part of the overall plan to rationalise the highest tax bracket of 28% to 18%. The list includes commonly used items like automobile tyre, some auto parts, digital camera, air conditioners, dish washing machine, set top box for TV, monitors and projectors as well as construction item like cement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said that 99% of goods and services will attract 18%or less Goods and Services Tax. He hinted at only luxury goods being in the top slab of 28%.GST rate may be cut on farm equipment. The overall focus on December 22 GST Council meet will be to lessen the GST burden on common man.
