The Department for International Trade (DIT) is a United Kingdom government division in charge of striking and expanding trade agreements between the United Kingdom and non EU states. EU operates an internal (or single) market which allows free movement of goods, capital, services and people between member states.

All importers and exporters need to register for an EORI number. Since UK falls under EU countries, a common trade policy is adopted to import most of the products. A separate rules and regulations are applied to specific products when importing and exporting in the European Union called Integrated Tariff of the European Communities (TARIC code).

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HM Revenue and Customs or HMRC) is the customs regulatory authority in UK. The Single Administrative Document (SAD) has been intended to cover all developments of merchandise, i.e. exportation, travel and importation. The buyer has to send a declaration to HMRC when you import goods into the UK from outside the EU. This is usually done using the Single Administrative Document (SAD), also known as form C88.

SADs can be submitted either electronically utilising the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) framework, or manually.

steve: I’m looking to export containers of used scooter from India to the UK to my bike shop. My wife is an Indian citizen and I’m English. We are setting up our company and export licences etc.. but I have some issues I can’t seem to find the answers to. MY first issue is, I don’t know how to get the paperwork of the scooters stamped for export for them to legally leave the country and have the correct paperwork I would need for clearance in the UK. 2. Some scooters are out of state (I’m in Punjab) for example if I buy a scooter from Kerela how would I get the paperwork in order to bring it to the Punjab and then get it stamped for export without trying to do it in the State it’s from.
