154/94-Customs, dated 13.07.1994 is valid when introduction of GST in India by July, 2017 for exemption of IGST on imports.
IGST and import duty is exempted for the following categories of importation under customs Notification 154/94 dt. 13.07.1994 valid at the time introduction of GST on 1st July, 2017.
IGST and import duty exempted to import of Samples in accordance with the International Convention to facilitate the importation of Commercial Samples and Advertising material drawn up at Geneva and dated the 7th day of November, 1952,
Import duty and IGST exempted on importation of Price lists supplied free of charge in accordance with the Convention mentioned above.
Import duty and IGST exempted on import of Commercial samples upto Rs.3 lakhs in value in case of gem and jewellery industry and Rs.1 lakh in case of any other industry, and not exceeding 50 units in number in a year, imported as personal baggage by bona fide commercial travellers or businessmen or imported by post or air.
No IGST payable on import of Prototypes of engineering goods imported as samples for executing or for use in connection with securing export orders subject to mutilation / re-export
IGST exempted on importation of Bonafide commercial samples and prototypes of value upto Rs. 10,000 and supplied free of charge.
