In some of the countries, there is no GST for sale of dairy products. However, some countries charges GST/VAT against sale of milk, honey, egg, cheese and other dairy products. In India, GST for dairy products like eggs, cheese, milk, honey etc. is expected to be included in exemption list where GST is payable at nil rate as most of these products are essential commodities.. However, some of the categories fall under this HSN chapter is expected tobe included in list of GST payable categories. If GST authorities in India include dairy products under commonly used categories of commodities, an amount of 5% of GST is expected to be charged for sale of milk, eggs, honey, cheese and other dairy products. If dairy products fall under standard goods, the rate of GST Tax would be 12%.
