What is SGST and Central Excise Tax? How does Central Excise Tax differ from SGST?


SGST means State Goods and Service Tax, a part of Goods and Service Tax (GST).


Central Excise Tax is levied up on manufacture of excisable goods in India. Central excise Tax is merged with Goods and Service Tax, GST. Central Excise Tax has to be paid at the time of removal of manufactured products. Whereas GST which includes SGST is collected at the final stage of movement of goods at end user level.
