The VAT means Value Added Tax. The full form of CGST is Central Goods and Service Tax. VAT system of taxation is being abolished and merging with GST by 2017.


VAT is levied at the time of sale of goods, either at the time of generation of invoice or at the time of movement of goods whichever is earlier. CGST, a part of GST is being imposed at the end stage of distribution of goods, means at end user level.
