How to export from Japan? What are the export registration procedures, export customs process, export cargo movement methods in Japan

This post explains about step by step procedures that need to be finished with Japan government authority for exportation to Japan.

A Trade License is required for export from Japan and the license is issued by Minister of Economy Trade and Industry (METI). The types of License are,

1. Individual License

a) Transaction-based examination.

b) Check the contents of each transaction.

2. Bulk License

a) For specific destination and specific items, repeated transaction, etc.

b) Do not examine each transaction.

c) Check the exporter’s compliance.

Japan Customs under the Ministry of Finance regulates inflow and outflow of goods in Japan. Exporters must declare to the Director-General of Customs the nature of the goods as well as the quantity, price, and any other necessary particulars. An export permit must also be obtained after the necessary physical examination.

The documents required for export from Japan is based on the product exporting from Japan, multilateral, bilateral or unilateral trade agreements, and other trade policies of Japan government. The export documents required in Japan also depends up on the nature of goods exporting (General goods, Personal effects, Dangerous goods, Livestock etc.), regular trade policy of Japan Government, specific goods exporting from Japan (Arms and ammunition, health products, food products, chemicals etc.)
