Validity and content of E-way Bill
An e-way Bill can be divided into 2 parts, Part – A and Part – B.
Contents of PART - A of the Form EWB - 01 can't be edited or modified once generated. Part A of the form is to collect the details of the consignment,
Part – A consists of GSTIN of Recipient, Place of Delivery, Invoice or Challan Number, Value of Goods, HSN Code, Reason for Transportation and Transport Document Number.
PART - B can be updated with Vehicle details/ RR/Airway Bill etc. In Part B of this form, one needs to fill in the vehicle number of the transported goods. The transporter will complete this information in the common portal.
Consolidated e-Way Bill can be generated for vehicle carrying multiple consignments.
The Validity of e-Way Bill is fixed as one day for every 100 Kms or part thereof. The validity can be extended online before the expiry.
The validity of the e-way bill starts when first entry is made in Part-B i.e. vehicle entry is made first time in case of road transportation or first transport document number entry in case of rail/air/ship transportation, whichever is the first entry. It may be noted that validity is not re-calculated for subsequent entries in Part-B.
The validity period of the e – way Bill is calculated based on the ‘approx. distance’ entered while generating the e – way Bill. For every 100Kmsone day is a validity period for e – way Bill as per rule and for part of 100 KM one more day is added. For ex. If approx. distance is 310Kms then validity period is 3+1 days. For movement of Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC), the validity is one day for every 20 KM (instead of 100 KM) and for every 20KM or part thereof one more day is added.
The e-Way Bill with consignment should have the latest vehicle number which is carrying the said consignment.
