MAT in Indian budget 2015-16Application of MAT on FPIs , under Indian Budget 2015-16

The Indian Union Budget is being declared on 28th February 2015 at 11AM in Indian Parliament.

Foreign Portfolio Investors(FPIs) are expected hear from Finance minister of India on 28th February, 2015 about  the mechanism of Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT), more clarity on its application.
What is MAT?

MAT means Minimum Alternate Tax. MAT

MAT was introduced to profit making companies those who are not paying any taxes against exemptions and deductions.  The units of Special Economic Zones expect restoration of exemptions of MAT in this Budget 2015-16 as   they believe, imposing MAT neutralize tax benefits which they enjoy.  A pragmatic solution on computation of Minimum Alternate Tax is also expected especially, the mechanism of calculation of book profit of such companies falls under MAT.
