Car carrier containers are used to move cars by road and rail. However in exceptional cases, the car carrier containers are used to ship by sea also. Generally, RORO (Role On Roll Off) shipping arrangements are done to move cars and other automobiles by sea. Under a RORO shipping, vehicles are directly driven on to RORO vessel. Compared to shipment of automobiles with car carrier containers, the cost of transportation is less in RORO shipping.
Although the term car carrier container is used, almost all types of automobile vehicles can be transported in such containers by making necessary changes in manufacture.
