Chandralal Kalansooriya: I am confused about HS code 2936 ... and HS code 2106 .... I imported mineral tablets from USA(Albion Co.) for my patients. The USA very clearly informed me that the mineral tablets are coming under HS code 2936 ...(under organic chemicals) buth the Sri Lanka Customs classified these mineral tablets under HS Code 2106 .... and charged higher duty rate which was unbearable for me. I firmly believe that these mineral tablets can not be classified under HS 2106 ..(Food Preparations ..). And the other thing I believe is that the USA is perfect enough to classify the mineral tablets under HS Code 2936 ..... I do not think that the country of import has no right to change the HS code since it is based on an international convention agreed upon by more than 200 countries. Please advice me.
